Who runs buses in Farnham?
Stagecoach is the main operator named by Surrey County Council's timetable pages for services around Farnham. Surrey's buses and other transport page links to timetables, live information at stops (RTPI), operator contacts and community transport. Stagecoach's own route pages are the place for current timetables, so use them or Traveline for planning. Surrey's timetable pages direct you to Traveline when a timetable is missing.
Which routes can we confirm?
Route 16 is described by Surrey's timetable page as the Stagecoach service Aldershot, Badshot Lea, Farnham, Rowledge, effective from 30 August 2026. It shows departures from about 07:00 to 19:30 on Monday to Friday (some marked school days only or school holidays only), from about 07:20 to 19:20 on Saturdays, and no Sunday or public holiday service. That makes it the route for Badshot Lea and Rowledge. Check the page for the stop you want.
Stagecoach also lists a route 46 as Farnham to Guildford and a route 5 as Farnham to Aldershot. Surrey's diversion notices also name services 4, 404, 5, 18 and 65 as passing through Farnham town centre. For frequencies, check the timetable.
Are there roadworks affecting buses?
Yes, at the time of writing. Surrey's temporary changes page says that from Monday 28 September the northbound closure of Castle Street would be completed and services 4 and 404 would revert to their normal route, with Castle Street stops temporarily relocated further up the hill outside Guildford House. It also lists East Street closures on weeknights between 8pm and 4am: eastbound from 21 September to 12 October, then westbound from 13 to 22 October. Services 5, 18 and 65 divert, with East Street and South Street stops closed during those hours. Dates change, so check the page.
How does the Surrey free bus pass work?
Surrey's older people page says you must live in Surrey and be of State Pension age. The pass is valid between 9:30am and 11pm Monday to Friday and at any time on weekends and public holidays. You can apply online or at a library, up to 28 days before you become eligible. You need one proof of address and one proof of age or identity, dated within the last 12 months. Surrey asks you to allow up to 15 working days for assessment, and if your pass has not arrived within 60 days and you have not told the council, you may be liable for a £10 replacement charge.
Surrey's tickets and discounts page also lists free passes for disabled people and the Surrey LINK bus card.
