Where can children play in Farnham?

Farnham Park. Waverley's Farnham Park page describes a medieval deer park within walking distance of the town centre, with an adventure playground, a toddlers' play area, a shared-use path for pedestrians and cyclists, a trim trail and two football pitches available for hire. Public toilets are at Birdies Coffee House and Bar, which is open year-round according to the page. The park also has a nine-hole golf course and Farnham Cricket Club. The main car park is off Folly Hill (A287), GU9 0FL; parking is currently free, with restrictions due to be enforced soon (see our parking guide). You can phone 01483 523394. It holds Green Flag status and is a Site of Nature Conservation Importance.

Gostrey Meadow. Farnham Town Council's Gostrey Meadow page calls it a natural outdoor space in the town centre. It mentions a project to improve the toilets and playground, and a bandstand available for hire. Check the council page for the current state of the playground before a visit.

Bishop's Meadow. The Town Council's Bishop's Meadow page describes 35 acres of hay and flower meadowland beside the River Wey, managed by the Bishop's Meadow Trust. It says people play, picnic, stroll and walk dogs there. It is a Site of Nature Conservation Importance, home to wildlife including egrets, kingfishers, bats and grass snakes. The page does not list playground facilities.

Is there a swimming pool?

Farnham Leisure Centre, Dogflud Way, Farnham, GU9 7UD, is run by Everyone Active for Waverley. The council's leisure centres page lists a 25m pool and a teaching pool, a gym with spin studio, sauna, dance studio, sports hall, crèche, treatment room, two squash courts and a café. What is free and indoors?

Farnham Library runs weekly sessions. Surrey's events page lists Storytime on Mondays at 10:30am, Pebble Rhymetime on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:30am (no booking, maximum 25 children), Stay and Play on Thursdays from 10:15am to 11:45am, and Chatterbooks for ages 7 to 12 on the second Saturday of the month at 11am. Farnham Town Council's villages page mentions the Rowhill Nature Reserve at Heath End in Hale, woodland, common land and a village green at The Bourne, and Rowledge bordering Alice Holt Woodland. The page also describes Wrecclesham as best known for its pottery, with Farnham Pottery operating from a preserved Victorian pottery building.
